Steven Lin moved from Taiwan to the United States in 1999 to study with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky at The Juilliard School Pre-College Division in New York. He has performed in Dublin National Hall, Sendai Philharmonic Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Hall (New York) and Salle Cortot (Paris). In October 2011, he debuted at the Louvre Auditorium in Paris.
Mr. Lin won the 2002 Juilliard Pre-College Piano Competition. He also won the 2004 Nordmann Piano Scholarship Competition and received a full scholarship to The Juilliard Pre-College Division. Mr. Lin has won first prize in The Julliard’s Mozart Piano Concerto Competition and also won the Munz Scholarship Competition at The Juilliard. He was awarded the Gold Medal in the First Chinese International Piano Competition in New York.
At the age of thirteen, Mr. Lin was a soloist with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, performing with conductor George Manahan. In 2003, he performed at a family concert with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in Avery Fisher Hall. At fifteen, he returned as soloist with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, this time performing under the baton of Hal France. He has also performed with the New Jersey Symphony and the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestras.
In 2007, Mr. Lin received a full scholarship to the College Division of The Juilliard School where he studied with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky and Matti Raekallio. He is now a Masters candidate there studying with Robert McDonald and Matti Raekallio.
In 2012, Mr. Lin won Third Prize in both the Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the William Kapell International Piano Competition.
