Shen Lu, a native of Jiangsu, China, has won several international piano competitions including first prize in the Hong Kong Piano Open Competition, gold medalist at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, 1st prize winner in the New England Conservatory whole school concerto competition, and other prizes including the Jingzhong Competition, the Asia Chopin Piano Competition, the CCTV Piano Competition, Best Chinese Musician Work prize in the Gulangyu Piano Festival, No.59 Wideman International Piano competition, No.4 Campillos International Piano Competition, No.2 Florida International Competition, XXV Ferrol International Piano Competition, Iowa International Piano Competition, semi-final prize for Sydney International Piano Competition and Queen Elizabeth International Piano Competition.

Mr. Shen has a special interest in contemporary Chinese repertoire. He has performed works by Zhang Shuai, Chen Peixun and Gao Ping, and has performed the piano concerto by Huang Anlun with the Xiamen Orchestra. His performance of the Saint-Saëns second piano concerto with the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Orchestra was broadcast on CCTV, the largest national television network in China. Mr. Shen has performed solo and chamber music works at the Central Conservatory of Music Hall and is a recipient of the Baogang Scholarship, the YAMAHA scholarship, the Professional Scholarship at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and the Beneficial Society Scholarship at the New England Conservatory.

He has been the piano accompanist for the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Chorus and has performed in China’s National Grand Theater in Beijing. He has been the official accompanist for both New England Conservatory and Boston Conservatory. He has participated in The Juilliard School piano festival in Hong Kong, the China International Piano Festival in Beijing, and the PianoTexas International Academy & Festival.

Mr. Shen has appeared in concerts at Carnegie’s Weill Hall in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Mixon Hall in Cleveland, Culture Center and City Hall in Hong Kong, Flagey Concert Hall in Brussels, Seymour Centre in Sydney and Concerts tour in China.

In 2015, Mr. Shen will release his first CD recording on the Steinway & Sons label through ArkivMusic. He has played Liszt concerto No.1 in E-flat major and Huang Anlun piano concerto with Xiamen Orchestra; Brahms concerto No.1 in d minor Op.15 with Guangzhou Orchestra and Orlando Orchestra; Chopin concerto No.1 in e minor Op.11 with Ferrol Orchestra and New England Conservatory Philharmonia Orchestra; and Mozart concerto No.21 in C major K.467 with Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie.

Mr. Shen is currently studying with Haesun Paik at Cleveland Institute of Music where he is working on his artist diploma degree. He finished his master’s degree and graduate diploma at New England Conservatory in Boston under pianist Alexander Korsantia. He finished his bachelor’s program at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing under pianist Wu Ying. His previous teachers include Lin Eryao and Li Siying, and his first teacher was his father, Shen Guofu. He has played in master classes for Lee Kum Sing, Arie Vardi, Boris Berman, Thomas Unger, Paul Badura-Skoda, Hung-Kuan Chen and Stephen Kovacevich.
